There are many reasons such as not enough time, responsibilities, challenges, distractions, procrastination and an over-scheduled life. But I think that the reason why we don't use our creative abilities and strenghts to fill up our lives with colours and possibilities is basically fear.
We are afraid to be wrong. We are afraid to make a mistake. We’re afraid of not being perfect. We’re afraid of looking stupid, being laughed at,
being judged and critized.
The fear of expressing ourselves creatively and using it as a thinking tool is counterproductive and often leaves us unable to think clearly. Fearing our own ability to create, holds us back in many aspects of lives, whether it is in the workplace or being a better parent. As a matter of fact, rejecting or ignoring our creativity can leave us frustrated and feeling an unexplainable sense of loss and emptiness in our lives.
Our imagination and our natural ability to create is like our own personal magic wand in life. It is a potent elixir that energizes our mind and body into creating the life of our choosing. And the more that we use it, the better we become at filing our lives with the colours that gives us the courage to overcome our fears of not being good enough to create what makes us happy.
The creative adult is the child who survived.
