As adults we are often unhappy because we have forgotten how to be playful. Our imagination, like any muscle that is not used, loses its ability to be flexible and to function properly, leaving people feeling frustrated, alone, empty, lost, discouraged and trapped in their life circumstances. Give a person a little creative therapy and watch their eyes light up and hear their conversation turn to laughter.
Unfortunately as adults we have gotten into the habit of taking life too seriously and we are afraid of what others will think of our attempts to participate in any form of behaviour that would seem like child’s play.
It is too bad because playtime of any sort has been consistently proven to reduce stress, increase energy levels, optimism and it encourages healthy habits and creativitive pursuits. Most adults experience a longing to return to their youth to experience the energy of their playful nature again. They hunger for that spark of spirited creativity, despite their serious grownup habits and attitudes.
That was her magic,
she could still see the sunset,
even on those darkest days.
