Like you Daddy, I feel connected to this property. It is a part of who I am. I know that you came here as a child after losing both of your parents and then you spent the rest of your life living on this land and working hard to raise your own children. Sometimes I go up on the hill and can imagine you ploughing the potato field with your old tractor. I see the tall trees and smile because I know that they were here when you walked this place. Sometimes I have a tear because the missing you never goes away.
I am lucky Daddy because I get to work the land that was once yours. The thing is, I loved growing up on your farm and you taught me to respect all living things. As a little girl, I followed you to the barn and watched you work. No wonder I am out on a beautiful day like today, planting carrots. You taught me well.
I have to get back to my garden Daddy because I have so much yet to do. I wish your were here to help me because looking after this place is a lot of work but you know already that. Before I go, I just want you to know that I always thought you were the most handsome, kindest, strongest and wisest man I ever knew.
Love,
Mary
